Selwyn Township is installing 6 new Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) chargers! The chargers will be located at the Township Office, Ennismore Community Centre, Bridgenorth Library, and the River Den. The new chargers will increase access to public charging in Selwyn Township.Funding SupportSelwyn Township received funding from Aviva Canada&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.aviva.ca/en/about-aviva/sustainability/charged-for-change/">Charged for Change Program</a>. The Township was one of seven communities to receive funding in 2023.The Charged for Change Program is a $3 million partnership between <a href="https://www.aviva.ca/en/">Aviva Canada</a> and <a href="https://earthday.ca" target="_self">Earth Day Canada</a> to deliver electric vehicle charging stations for public use in under-served communities across Canada. Underserved communities are those that have less than the provincial average number of charging stations based on population size. EV Chargers across Selwyn Township

Located at 1 Water Street in Downtown Lakefield, the Lakefield Marina provides Selwyn residents and visitors with an opportunity to enjoy the Otonabee Riverfront and access to the Trent-Severn Waterway system. The Lakefield Marina is owned and operated by the Township of Selwyn, offering 34 slips along with wall docking slips for seasonal and transient renters to dock their boats along with an Administration Building that contains a small retail operation open to the general public and provides comfort amenities for Marina users. The Lakefield Marina is an important part of a downtown community hub that also contains public amenities such as the Lakefield Trail, Isabel Morris Park, former Sea Scout Building and the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre. The Township initiated a Lakefield Marina Utilization Study in response to a recent review of its Parks &amp; Recreation Department that examined ways to modernize and operate more efficiently. The Study assessed the Lakefield Marina&rsquo;s service offerings, operating performance, and value provided to boaters and the public. In doing so, we are looking at best practices in the marina industry, seeking input from the public and boating community and investigating whether changes are needed to the services offered at the Lakefield Marina including a potential expansion.

Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22 to create awareness about the environment and how we can take action to protect the earth.In April, individuals, families, community groups and organizations are encouraged to participate in an Earth Day Litter Clean Up to pick up litter from roadsides and public places in Selwyn Township.How to Participate<ul><li>Individuals, families, community groups and organizations register their Litter Clean Up Day with Selwyn Township by completing the <a href="https://speakup.selwyntownship.ca/earth-day-litter-clean-up/surveys/earth-day-litter-clean-up-registration-form" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Registration Form</a> at the bottom of this page. On this form, you will indicate the number of clear bags and the number of pairs of gloves you and/or your group require. Participants will be provided with clear bags for garbage and recycling, nitrile gloves, and a landfill pass to dispose of the collected litter. </li><li>Supplies will be available for pick up at the Township Office (1310 Centre Line).</li></ul>Thank you <a href="https://swish.ca/">Swish Maintenance</a> for the generous donation of garbage bags and gloves to support this initiative.Disposal of LitterParticipants can bring garbage and recycling to the Smith Landfill (1480 County Road 18) for disposal from Tuesday, April 22 to Saturday, April 26.
