Just in Time for Heritage Day Celebrations!

Selwyn Township is pleased to announce the completion of the Ennismore Community Improvement Plan (CIP) Public Realm Improvements at the intersection of Tara and Ennis Roads. Just in time for Ennismore Heritage Day this Saturday, July 12th, the renewed public space is ready to welcome residents and visitors alike with a safer, more accessible, and more vibrant streetscape.

This milestone marks a major step forward in the implementation of the Township's CIP, a long-term strategy aimed at enhancing the community's public spaces and supporting local vitality.

Key improvements at the Tara and Ennis intersection include:

  • New sidewalks extending west to Earl Avenue, creating a safer and more accessible route for pedestrians.
  • Coloured concrete pedestrian crossings, designed for high visibility and to add a touch of vibrancy to the streetscape.
  • Sod and landscaping installation, bringing greenery and visual appeal to the corridor.
  • Benches and decorative railings, providing inviting spaces for residents and visitors to rest and enjoy the surroundings.

While the main construction phase is now complete, additional finishing touches are planned for the near future. Streetlight installation is scheduled for this fall, and distinctive dry stack wall features will further enhance the visual character of the intersection.

Selwyn Township extends its thanks to the community for their patience throughout construction and invites everyone to come and experience the newly completed space during Ennismore Heritage Day festivities this Saturday. It’s a celebration not only of the area’s rich Irish roots, but also of its exciting path forward.
