Work to Begin This Spring!
Working in collaboration with Engage Engineering, Selwyn Township will be implementing Community Improvement Plan (CIP) enhancements at the intersection of Tara and Ennis Roads in 2025.
In addition to improvements at the main intersection, we will also be extending the sidewalk on Ennis Road to make the area more pedestrian friendly and improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians. Specifically, the sidewalk will be extended westerly from the intersection to Earl Avenue (approximately 146 metres).
It is important to note that the roadway and intersection at Tara and Ennis Roads fall under the jurisdiction of the County of Peterborough (County Road 16). While the Township of Selwyn has jurisdiction over the sidewalks and public realm amenities, the County will be consulted throughout the planning process related to any improvements in the roadway or intersection.
The tender for this project has been awarded to Drain Brothers, with work scheduled to begin in Spring 2025. The scope of the project will include:
- Removal of the existing road surface in the intersection, replaced with new asphalt
- Ditching and drainage improvements
- Installation of a concrete sidewalk and curb (intersection and portion Ennis Road to Earl Avenue)
- Installation of new electrical infrastructure, including decorative light standards
- Streetscape and landscape features (decorative stacked wall features, native shrubs, perennials and grasses, and benches)
This is an exciting step toward improving infrastructure and creating a more pedestrian-friendly environment in Ennismore. We will continue to update the community as the project progresses.
